Gauge: 1 motif = about 4.5 cm wide and 10-11 rows = 10 cm high.
METHOD
Hat to fit 50 cm head First make the hat of 4 separate panels. For each panel 13 cm wide crochet 33 ch + 1 ch for turning in rosé, then work foll stitch dia. A as foll: 1 row rosé, then alt 2 rows white and 2 rows rosé. At the same time dec at each end as given. When work measures 16 cm, after 17 rows, end work. Sew panels tog. For the brim attach yarn in rosé and work sc (UK = dc) in rounds, working 1 ch to stand for 1st sc at beg of each round, and end with 1 sl-st into this ch. On 1st round work initial ch and 119 sc = 120 sts. Then crochet 2 sc into 1 st. 10 times evenly across every 2nd round 5 times = 170 sts. After 12 rounds = about 5 cm in height, end brim. Bring hat over a suitable container (e.g. vase), cover with a damp cloth and allow to dry.
